HARRY MASON travels to Silent Hill with
his daughter, Cheryl, looking forward to a little relaxation. He's a writer and loves the quaintness of this small coastal
town. He's been here before, with his wife. Since she died four years ago, he hasn't had the heart to come back. Time heals
all wounds, though, and now he's about to share some memories with Cheryl. Unfortunately, whoever coined that phrase didn't
know Silent Hill's dark past. Harry will definitely take some memories home with him, but much more than he bargained for.

CHERYL MASON was only three when her mother died. Living alone
with Daddy isn't bad, though. They get more time together and they're great friends. Cheryl's a normal, spunky kid who likes
to play and draw pictures in the sketchbook Harry gave her for her fifth birthday. Dad promised they'd have fun on this
vacation, but the car ride is long and boring. Cheryl is jerked awake as their car flies through the air - she doesn't have
time to scream. Cheryl wakes up again, but this time it's day time. Daddy's sleeping - better not wake him. Stepping into
the mysterious fog, Cheryl feels surprisingly calm. It's as if she's been here before...as if she belongs here.

CYBIL BENNETT is a police officer from the city
of Braums, not far from Silent Hill. Communication is lost between the two cities without warning. Concerned, Cybil takes
off on her motorcycle to check it out. She finds Harry lying in a restaurant, unconscious. The town is deserted and this man
says his young daughter is missing. Could this have something to do with a recent drug investigation?

You'll soon find that you are not alone in Silent Hill. A selected few have survived, as well. What do you all have in common...why
have you been chosen?

Like a ghost, this mysterious young woman appears several times in the story. Who is she? Is she a lonely prisoner here, gently
pointing you in the right direction, or a cunning spirit responsible for the town's transformation?

DOCTOR MICHAEL KAUFMAN finds himself under attack by a flying demon. Thinking quickly, he kills it, but is immediately
met by a stranger - Harry - asking too many questions. Is the doctor hiding something, somehow involved in this sudden change
of fortune, or is he a selected victim - cursed to wander the foggy streets in search for answers?

DAHLIA GILLESPIE is one crazy lady...her clothes don't match and she's rambling on about some prophecy, blah, blah,
blah. It's hard to take someone like this seriously...but is the town really being "devoured by darkness"?

LISA GARLAND wakes up in her place of work - Alchemilla Hospital. But it's different - like a nightmare. Frightened
and alone, she is overjoyed when Harry finds her. She is tempted to join Harry in his search for Cheryl, but decides to stay.
There is something she is trying to remember...
Other people you hear about:
1. Officer Gucci - a policeman from Silent Hill that died of mysterious causes.
2. Coroner Seals - the coroner
who performed Gucci's autopsy.
3. Norman Young - proprietor of the Hearby Inn.
4. Gyromancy - the subject
of Dahlia's ramblings, at first I thought this was a person or being. However, I later found that gyromancy is the act
of fortelling the future. (scrying, runes, taro cards, casting bones or tea leaves, etc.)
5. Flauros - also the subject
of Dahlia's rambling. Apparently, he conceals things...also the name of the weird pyramid-shaped thingy she gives you.
6.
Samael - his mark is all over town. It's the circle with the pyramid and "all-seeing eye" inside it. He's the subject
of worship for a strange cult...or "some weird religion" as Lisa puts it.
**For the real story behind Flauros, Samael
and other names mentioned in Silent Hill, check out the "Eerie...isn't it?" page.
